This role can be filled by a Medical Assistant (MA), Emergency Medical Tech (EMT), CNA, Paramedic, or Nursing student.
Performs the function of an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) in carrying out all assignments under the direction of an RN in the Emergency Department. Is accountable for all patient care he/she gives in the Emergency Department. Is responsible for adhering to all standards of Nursing Practice and for promoting teamwork among colleagues through collaboration and respect.
ED Tech I Qualifications
- Minimum Education: High school graduate. Completion of nursing assistant certification training and competency exams as approved by the State Board of Health, Completion of Nursing Fundamentals course, EMT Course, or Medical Assistant Course.
- Certifications Required: Healthcare Provider CPR certification (American Heart Association)
- Certifications Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant or EMT Certification
ED Tech 2 Qualifications
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Certifications Required:
- Current Indiana Licensed or Certified Paramedic
- Healthcare Provider CPR certification
- ACLS certification
- PALS or PEPP certification
- Certifications Preferred: BTLS
